You've found the perfect printable. Now what? Printing your digital downloads at home is simpler than you might think — and with a few key tips, the results can be stunning.
What You'll Need
- An inkjet or laser printer — inkjet printers generally produce richer color output for art prints; laser printers excel for planners and text-heavy documents.
- Quality paper — the right paper transforms a good print into a great one. See our recommendations below.
- A PDF reader — Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) gives you the most control over print settings.
Choosing the Right Paper
Paper weight and finish matter more than most people expect:
- Digital planners & journals: 80–90 lb smooth matte paper for clean lines and minimal ink bleed.
- Wall art & prints: 100 lb+ cardstock or photo paper for a gallery-quality finish. Matte gives an editorial feel; glossy makes colors pop.
- Budget option: Standard 20 lb copy paper works well for everyday planning pages — no need to overthink it.
Print Settings That Make a Difference
- Set your paper size correctly. Most of our files are US Letter (8.5" × 11") or A4. Match this in your printer settings before hitting print.
- Choose "Actual Size" or "100%" — never "Fit to Page", which can crop or shrink your design.
- Select the highest quality print mode available in your printer driver for art prints.
- Do a test print on regular paper first to check layout and margins before using premium stock.
Color Calibration Tips
Colors on screen rarely match printed output exactly. For best results, set your printer's color profile to sRGB and print a single test page before committing to a full run. Slight variations are normal — they're part of the handmade quality of home printing.
Framing & Finishing
Once printed, your wall art is ready to display. Standard frame sizes (8×10, 5×7, A4) are widely available at IKEA, Target, and Amazon. A mat board adds a gallery-worthy touch without the gallery price tag.
Your digital download. Your printer. Your walls — elevated.
